I love all your videos, but one thing I will say is it is important to wear the proper shoes for walking and running and replace them on a regular basis as worn out shoes can lead to issues in the long-term in your feet knees and back. I mean this out of love as I truly love all of your content. I found this out myself the hard way and have learned this in my education as a personal trainer, as well as in my masters degree. I completely agree that saving money is crucial however, we have to make sure we also evaluate saving money in the short term with long-term consequences because issues with our feet knees and back can lead to more expenses in the long-term if we aren’t wearing the proper footwear and I think that that’s a certain area that’s worth spending more on in the short term to keep our bodies healthy for longer.

Ha! Okay, so picture this… the first time I realized “unsexy habits” were actually my financial love language was the day I caught myself rinsing out a Ziploc bag like it was a family heirloom, and whew, I had this moment of, “Marquis, buddy, you’ve crossed over into a new tax bracket of frugality.” But funny you mention that, because growing up poor taught me that the stuff nobody claps for is exactly what keeps your wallet alive—like making coffee at home even when your soul is begging for a latte, or doing the “lights off” walk through your apartment like you’re auditioning for a stealth video game. And hmmm, I swear this happens every time: the habits that look boring on the outside end up giving you the loudest peace on the inside. So yeah, my 15 unsexy habits aren’t glamorous—meal prepping like a dad in cargo shorts, fixing things with YouTube instead of buying new, tracking every expense like it owes me rent—but they’ve saved me thousands and given me something even better: the quiet confidence of knowing my money isn’t sprinting out the door the second I turn my back.

I totally understand the enjoyment of saving money and it is a good habit when you are young. However, I’d warn people that it is a hard habit to break when saving is no longer necessary.
I’m a retiree. I have ample and stable income yet I often find it difficult to spend as a lifetime of frugality gets in the way, sometimes, of enjoying my money. It is more common than many think.
So, I’d suggest that as you gain financial security, you consider changing your habits. Don’t be wasteful, rather be mindful that money is meant to be enjoyed. I know many seniors that are going to die with incredible wealth that, IMO, should have been enjoyed more in their younger, more active days.
Something to think about.
It’s all about balance.

I keep my clothes for ages. Last month we had a very cold period in France and I rediscovered an Irish sweater my mother knit me more than 30 years ago, still as new and so, so warm.
I home shop as much as possible, and have my motto: " use it up, wear it out, make it do..or do without". Terribly effective😂
All these ways to save money seem very challenging at first, but they quickly become a kind of game, and I find quite enjoyable to try and find solutions without spending (too much) money.

I was in a Zoom chat with a group of women from Alaska to NY. We didn’t know each other, but we discovered we all watch you! Except for one person who said she’s going to start watching!

I was raised with my mother saying “make do, do over or do without.” I still live by that philosophy.
