I bought a house in Houston, mortgaged it.<br>A few months later, I got a notice of cancellation from the insurance company, because there was a tree in the front yard.<br>Insurance companies don't want to cover any property that there is the slightest chance of a claim.<br>So I'm self-insured now. Saves me a lot of money, which I invest. Screw them.

Insurance is the biggest scam. You pay ridiculous premiums monthly for a service but when you try to use that service, they penalize you.

One thing going on here is out of sight yearly premiums.<br>My home was built in the 1960’s era and is a small three bedroom brick 1000 sq.ft. home.<br>In 2022 my yearly premium was $1650 and my renewal two weeks ago has ballooned to $3376.<br>And yes I have shopped around and I have found not other companies are really cheaper.<br>I have been told it is the windstorm issue of hurricanes and hail.
