I was married with a covert narcissistic husband who hated my beauty and everything I am and tried to destroy me. I cut him off. After 6 years alone, an avoidant appeared and will not fight for him. I choose God, me and my peace.

Guess he didn’t love me 😢 or he was just that fd up! Thirty years of empathetic patience turns out to be a foolish waste of time and a life.
Empaths need to avoid the avoidants and recognize that the avoidant needs therapy not another person who tolerates their behavior.

Empaths such of myself tolerating avoidant behavior is not love, it’s foolishness. An avoidant is not a trophy to win it’s work that never pays off and I regret giving myself to a black hole.

The best advice is to avoid the avoidant. You deserve better. They need therapy and you need someone who can actually meet you. You are not their therapist. Let them retreat and move on the moment you realize they’re not capable of giving the love and reciprocity you deserve. Their neurological wiring is not your problem or responsibility to manage.

Horrible advice to imply that there’s a chance that an avoidant will recover. Performance is all they can do.

Oil and water

Crossing that line, when avoidant loves an empath, is when their defense mechanism is lowered and they are emotionally exposed. The avoidant's escape hatch, their safety valve , their survival strategy, their backdoor is closed by the avoidant, with no way out, showing they are invested, taking away their protective shield , when they sense the empath creates a sense of safety for them, allowing the empath to see their messy reality and unpolished self. This is the shift, referred to in the video.

I do t expect anything from him. I enjoy our times together and let him be when he pulls back or needs time without me. I have no problem with that. I have a wonderful life, I'm not lonely and don't need compliments, sweet words if love etc to feel good about myself. Couldn't have done this even 10 years ago but now I'm almost 60 and I'm happy with and without him. I don't take his bs personal and know he loves me a lot and starts to trust me more. I don't do drama, don't pull, don't cry, don't scream, don't keep arguing about things that once happened but I do call him out. I will tell him where and how he hurt me. Short, calm, with love, and then leave it. He can do with that info what he wants. And sometimes I tell him to say sorry if he really is sorry and then I accept it happily. I keep the humor in to keep it light and us both laughing. For me it's enough. I'm happy anyway.

Remembering that the Sovereign God is the healing factor, and if an avoidant truly wants to be healed, Jehovah Rapha has already provided their healing by the stripes of Jesus! Thank You Lord Jesus❤
