Your presentations are a breath of fresh air. I have watch five of them related to gut health/ chronic constipation. I am 84, n Irish nurse/midwife. My father, his mother and two of my siblings have lifelong constipation. I remember from the age of four sitting on the toilet for an hour without being able to go. I was active all my life walking, exercising, gardening, taking care of my large house . I first learned about senna in Nursing School. At age twenty I started daily senna-just two, but over the years increased the nightly dose substantially. I had a bad bout of ‘flu in January which led to pneumonia then a severe ear infection that didn’t respond to antibiotics. I was given a shot of cortisone which worked but since I had fluid in my ears I temporarily lost my hearing. Altogether, I was sick and so, inactive for eight weeks. I still haven’t fully returned to my former regime of exercise since I feel fatigue throughout the day. I have never depended solely on on the senna since my studies in nutrition made me aware of the need for fiber. I eat just two meals a day between 10am and 7pm. Breakfast was a bowl of non-sweetened bran flakes, a slice of toast with Laban’s or butter <br>, four slices of Irish cheese or sheep’s cheese.and an assortment of berries. For dinner I have around three ozs of protein: fish, lamb or beef. Half a potato. At least one cup of green or root vegetablesI drink about six glasses or water a day as well as up to four mugs of tea with milk. After dinner, I eat three squares of dark chocolate. For more than fifty years I managed to stay slim, but by age 75, my nightly senna dose was eight tablets. I have been dealing with chronic stress for the past four years- death of my only brother and MH problems of my son that is resistant to medication. Suddenly, two weeks ago the senna stopped working for me. I was lucky to find your videos on UTube and ten days ago I started following a routine you outlined, while cutting my senna to four at night. I was feeling that I might have compaction so, initially used magnesium citrate which worked after 36 hours. I had to repeat it in order to go. This was before I found you. I am a little frustrated since I have started each day with half a liter of warm water, followed by one tablespoon of EV olive oil from the town of Kousa near Tripoli, Lebanon. My husband of sixty years is Lebanese. The fennel seeds soaked overnight did not form a gel, nor did the soaked flax seeds. Have almost eliminated refined flour from my diet and replaced white rice with brown. I realize that it might take a while to retrain my gut. What is discouraging is that in order to fully empty my bowels I need to use one or even two glycerine suppositories. I am also using the black seed oil-half a teaspoon and substituting coconut oil in the a.m. , or adding it in the afternoon. I am extremely tense each day until I am able to have a BM. I Any further advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm watching this nodding my head because this is EXACTLY what The Peasant's Prescription by Grace Wild breaks down. I read it two weeks ago and I swear I haven't felt this clear-headed in years.

Your body whispers long before it screams.' What a powerful and beautiful reminder from Dr. Nora. In our 60s, we are so used to ignoring the whispers until it's too late. The part about not eating raw vegetables in the evening because the digestive system slows down makes so much sense now—I always wondered why my healthy dinner salads caused so much bloating! Has anyone else noticed a big difference switching to warm, cooked meals at night?

This video just sent me straight to my bookshelf. I keep handing The Peasant's Prescription by Grace Wild to everyone who will take it. My sister called me crying last week saying she wishes she had it during her worst years. That's all I need to hear.
