  Elvis is the man of 1000 voices, he choses what voice to sing different songs with. If you listen to a ballad by Elvis from the same year, you get a different smooth voice. Same thing during all his career.

  To me, what makes his expertise at showmanship and owning the stage even more impressive is that he was just barely three years out of high school in 1956!  He was 21 here.  The film he's referring to was his first movie "Love Me Tender" which co-starred Richard Egan and Debra Padget.  His fine natural acting ability, humor, and dramatic expression were already showing in it.

  That lead guitar work by Scotty Moore is unbelievable.  The man who introduced Rock guitar to an unsuspecting world.  He and Elvis fit like a glove.

  Great analysis.  Not a great song for his vocals, but it really shows his stage presence and charisma.  Nobody could match that.  And dear god he was beautiful!!

  I’ve never heard anyone really talk about Elvis objectively. It’s always just two words. The King. But no one ever really explained why. Thanks! Wonderful analysis of a legend.

  His voice wasn't fully developed,  he got much better and had more control later on.. Can you imagine,  how good he already was , and also take in account that he didn't use a standard microphone, but a microphone above his head out of view had to pick up that voice...Simply history in the making.

  Elvis had a super power. He knew the power he had over his audiences and he knew how to use it. Dude was one of THE great performers and he knew it.

  "If I Can Dream" is my favorite Elvis song. There is power in that voice.
