And then my favorite Orc betrayed me and crawled out of my screen with hyper realistic blood

imagine how many great games could be made, the nemesis system is one of the best things ever...and they're letting it die

The fact they patented the “nemesis” system makes them suuuuuuuuch scum bags

We need more games with systems legally distinct enough from the nemesis system to get made

Another terrifying detail is that it's rare but you can actually turn an orc insane to the point where they believe they ARE Brûz and their only voice line being "I'm Brûz", it feels like there's something about Brûz that simply doesn't want to leave the game world until it gets it's revenge

During my first playthrough of this game I met a really cool orc I dominated. My fight pit tactic at the time was picking cool orcs and if they died, branding the new guy. This cool orc died, so I operated according to my strategy. He defied death and returned to fight me because I "abandoned him to the pits and watched him die for my amusement". I tried to dominate him again because I really liked him but he had iron will. So I decided to shame him until I hopefully could. But I shamed him only once and he became a maniac.

For the rest of the game he haunted me. He followed me from region to region. He'd fly into battles I was winning and kill me as some sort of insult.

One night I decided to buckle in and dedicate an entire gaming session to killing him. I died a handful of times before the fateful battle. I started fighting him and another random captain wandered into the battle. So I killed that guy. Because I killed him his blood brother showed up for revenge. Halfway into killing the blood brother I was ambushed by an assassin. I must have killed a third of the captains in that map before it was just me and the maniac. I was out of resources. He had adapted to my crutch techniques. I was out of Last Chances. Then he downed me.

I remember screaming at the monitor in frustration. I had gone through an entire row of captains to kill this pos just to fail. Then a single beam of sunlight pierced the clouds and an angel came to my rescue. Forthog crashed into the fray and beheaded the maniac. There I sat. Dumbfounded by my luck.

When he turned the game off he could see Brûz reflection in the dark screen, not behind him but directly staring back.

Man if only there was the capability of recording game play in 2019. I guess we’ll just have to take the writers word for it
