I work at a laboratory that tests soil and water. Management fired a large number of "non-revenue generating roles" earlier this year. That included quality assurance guys who trained hires and made sure we could pass audits, field techs who collected and processed samples for clients, and maintenance crew who maintained the instruments and machinery. <br><br>This has already caused the complete collapse and closure of two regions after a series of horrifying failures lost clients and government certifications.<br><br>The kicker? Those regions were incredibly profitable. Printing money as fast as the instruments could spit out test results. The reason they burned it all down was because they set insanely aggressive growth targets that could never be achieved.

The funny thing is their war against labor has destroyed productivity, costing them even more. There is no security/reward for being good at your job, so many people are just mailing it in and doing as little as possible. Development slows down to a crawl, bugs don't get fixed.
