  just a re reminder that Fight Club was written by a gay man who was criticizing 90&apos;s toxic masculinity, which looked at a society that had reached a point where we weren&apos;t struggling and actually living in comfort, so they purposefully destroyed it in order to feel like &quot;Real Men&quot;. <br>&quot;We have no Great Wars. no Great Depression&quot; <br>2 years later was 9/11 and two wars that lasted for almost two decades, and a Great Recession that left millions completely bankrupt and homeless, all so a handful of Wall St leeches could buy a third yacht. <br>and now we sit on YouTube, watching compilations of reactions, while we are at war once again.

  No, Tyler isn&apos;t &quot;chaos&quot; he&apos;s pure &quot;Id.&quot; As in &quot;Id, Ego, and Superego.&quot;<br><br>And Tyler&apos;s appearance isn&apos;t the inciting incident, it&apos;s Marla&apos;s. Jack invented Tyler because he was sweet on a girl and didn&apos;t feel &quot;Man Enough&quot; to pursue her sexually or romantically so he created this &quot;character&quot; that was. Then said &quot;character&quot; overtook his life. Literally and figuratively. <br><br>Which is especially hilarious because the whole problem at the beginning of the movie was the existential dread that was keeping Jack awake at night was only truly solved through therapy and connection with human beings. Fight Club and then project mayhem just caused destruction.

  Critics definitely got it wrong and it&apos;s a great film but The Thing and Bladerunner are still the 2 greatest travesties regarding initial reception from critics imo. Arguably the greatest horror film ever made and arguably the greatest Sci-Fi movie ever made both got shat on big time by critics at release.
