  Fight Club is a great lesson in showing that just because someone can identify life&apos;s problems, is very articulate and insightful about those problems, doesn&apos;t mean they have ANY idea about the solutions.<br>Tyler really speaks to these guys about feelings of alienation and meaninglessness in their lives and the culture at large. They feel heard, maybe for the first time. He puts a finger on things they were perhaps all thinking to themselves. He also gives them a sense of community and family.<br>But then, because of that, they hand over their allegiance and their decision-making to this &quot;guru&quot; they assume must know so much more than they do. They literally become his servants, accomplices, and, in the case of Bob, his casualties. Trouble is, Tyler&apos;s &quot;solutions&quot; don&apos;t stand up to even basic scrutiny or sensible criticism. So the rules he invents are not to talk about it and not to ask questions ⬅ dead giveaway. His followers have to invent meaning for this silliness (&quot;In death, a member of Project Mayhem has a name&quot;) because none exists.

  In reality, the film is about a psychotic bipolar individual who goes so long without sleep that he develops a dissociative identity disorder, which he uses to exploit the frustration of others in order to create a cult.
