  Mike is 100% correct. People making big incomes have moved over into sports cards and those who collect sports cards that make big money have caused prices to rise on the goats. I think they're long term big money investers / collectors out there creating this card economy.

  For houses, yes down payment, but don’t forget the outrageous property taxes, increasing homeowners insurance, and increased cost of household repairs.

  This episode made me think of two things. 1) the time when Graig sold the PSA 10 Derek Jeter card because he was going to buy the PSA 9 and by the time you got around to looking for the 9, it cost more than the 10 sold. <br><br>2) about a year and a half ago I had my eyes on a Michael Jordan card and saw one at a show. At the time I first saw the card I was out of work and didn’t want to spend the money to buy it. By the time I got a job and reached back out to the seller, the price of the card had gone up about 50%. I decided to wait and not trying negotiate a deal at that time. As of now, the card has increased by four or five times what it was a year and a half ago. I’m pretty sure I will never be comfortable spending that kind of money to buy this card.<br><br>Thanks for the video!!!

  I’m going to add that Gen X had the most collectors ever during the junk wax era. They’re now in higher incomes in their careers and or close to retiring and have got back into cards. Their kids are being influenced by it as well.

  I think the sports card collecting hobby is a microcosm of the sports franchise ownership market. Live sports has become the primary pop culture feature - you see it in the trend in ticket prices, broadcast fees and player salaries. So I forecast that card prices will follow the trend and pattern of sports franchise prices.

  I think the pop count on those cards is probably not getting talked about enough... When a card has only a few dozen in the pop report and sells just a few times a year, each sale isn&apos;t really a &quot;comp&quot;, its more of a market reset.<br><br>Personally I&apos;ve set the high comp on several Jeter and Bonds rare cards this year, because previous sales felt completely disconnected from where the market actually was. It feels wild to say that when the last sale was 60 days ago, but stuff this rarely moved can still be way off depending on the details of the last sale.<br><br>Typically a traditional comp mindset assumes the price youre anchoring around is stable, but that falls apart with some of these cards.<br><br>Maybe another future episode topic - &nbsp;comping super rare items. Would love to hear Tony&apos;s input from his experience

  Great video as always. Regarding player of the Decade (2000s) it has to be Albert Pujols. The only player in MLB history to start his career hitting .300+ each year for 10 consecutive years! On top of that he won the ROY Award and 3 MVPs in that Decade.

  I’m 13 minutes into watching this,, it’s 1 am here and I just have to speak up,,,,! &nbsp;I watched that episode “live” a few days ago and it was like watching a “plane crash” in a “hilarious” way! &nbsp;Who does a 1/2 million $ deal ,, not in person,,, really,, I said that in the chat “live”,,, the “vendor” is in 🇲🇽 Mexico,, sorry guys ,, doesn’t that raise “alarm bells”,,,, sorry Mexicans,, I love your country!!! The whole thing was (is) “farcical” in a “comedic” way!! <br>While I’m here must “shout” that I have a happy “rant” video I’m about to post which I’d love people to see!!

  Yep. &nbsp;Us small budget guys that are trying to buy vintage are getting priced out. &nbsp;It&apos;s an issue.

  I agree 💯 that cards are going to the moon!!!!! The prices on boxes of cards are ridiculous. Breakers are getting all the product and the monopoly knows that breakers will pay ANY price so the monopoly can charge ANY price for products. I remember when Dusty Buns (that’s what Neo calls him) was crying that breakers were getting 60% of the product. I bet breakers were like “if you are crying about 60%, hold my beer, because we gonna catch it all!!!!!”……the number has to be closer to 90% these days because, like you said, card prices are to the moon!!!! Not sure if either of you guys were in the hobby pre-Covid, but cards used to be affordable……….
