But with me it is external and internal social anxiety because I have always suffered from acne and it always attacks my face. I am so self conscious because of this and also because my mind goes numb in the company of strangers (or even people I know) so I am constantly worried about the awkward silences. And also I worry if someone says something witty or funny that I won't be able to respond with something similar back. I hate going into a room and everyone looks round at me. It is physically painful and I just want to turn round and exit. I can only ever relax and feel at ease when I am alone.

Brilliant interview, thank you! Host and guest take turn to speak and listen which is refreshing Self disclosing made the conversation more authentic and engaging. Dr Hendriksen stories were interesting and her advice helpful. Will check out her podcast too.
