My journey to chronic severe pain began in 1984 while working on a military project on a remote tiny island in the Pacific.
The degenerative chronic severe pain I live with originates in my spine and affect everything attached to it.
Dealing with the depression cycle is all too often is more challenging than what is required for the pain management.
Blessed Be to All of you that live with chronic pain. May you achieve mastery over the pain. 🙏🏼

People who never go through trauma emotions PTSD, chronic pain, migraines fibromyalgia they have no idea what we're going through and it drives me nuts. When people say oh it's just a headache being my body only when I have so much pain 5 minutes and you'll see what I'm talking about and what I'm feeling and then you will have this empathy for people like us

The more you hurt the more you want to sit but the more you sit the more you hurt! I’ve had 4 back surgeries due to a compression fractures three shoulder surgeries with 6 screws implanted and I learned the hard way not to sit around. I now have a spinal stimulator (a life saver) and I wear a fentanyl patch. I work in my garden and build things everyday but I know my limits, I might work for 20-30 minutes and then have to sit for 20-30 minutes but I always get back up.

I have had loud, screeching tinnitus since 1995 and I really resonate with this talk. The helplessness and anxiety/depression seem like one intertwined alarm system that never turns off. I've noticed that unless you're bleeding in the street or have a definable disease like cancer, no one really takes you seriously. I carefully gatekeep who I share my struggle with chronic pain, and even then, very rarely. mean, who wants to hear the same tale of woe over and over? On the positive side, my struggle has led me to a deep contemplative practice of rest and safety. Gratitude practice for all that is well is also very important and made a huge difference.

My husband has suffered with lower back chronic pain for 30 years….nothing works. He is a diligent person and gives every idea a long try. We both are close to being in prison bc he can’t go in a car. We are grateful for the blessings we do have, but his agony is more than he can bear.
I hope there are listeners who will benefit. In the meantime we can’t wait to get to Heaven where there will be no pain.

I have had chronic pain my whole life, even as a small child and it has become very severe in the 10 last years.
I just wanna say that your comment in the beggining "can you imagine that?" Sent me into tears. I wish everyone had that kind of empathy.
Being gaslight, ignored, neglected and even violented is possibly the worst part of this hell.
Honestly I don't even know how I survive, I find it hard to comprehend the amount of pain and suffering I love thru even myself so I understand that people have a hard time comprehending it. I just wish they would trust me. You don't need to understand, you just need to trust me.

there’s a warm delivery of these ideas and there’s a cold delivery. the reason i like this channel is emma tends to have the warmest delivery. everyone else seems to deliver the message like this other woman in a clinical and cold way that makes me bristle and avoid her. this is a really important talent the very best mental health professionals have that so many do not. you can really tell those people who were brought up in or learned to be warm and those who were not.

the tragedy is that it’s not intentional most of the time. it just doesn’t land and isn’t therapeutic

I have one mayor problem with all these discussions. And this may well be projection on my part but it always feels so condescending when doctors and ppl who study pain talk about what you should do to get better from Chronic pain. Always endup feeling like the reason I am still in pain every second of every day is because I gave up or something similar. I have done years of these sessions of trying to change reaction to sensations they talk about and it does not work for my pain. I fully admit to being scared of the pain, but pain often being chalked up to being almost a mindset problem I get upset about it.
