Registering for Service Canada is one of the worse experiences you can have online.

At age 59 I started looking at the estimated CPP on the Services Canada page. I was disappointed with the numbers. Suddenly at age 62 late summer I saw those numbers nearly double. It made no sense. Still makes no sense. I retired anyway and started my CPP about 4 months before my 63 birthday. I am happy with the more than 14 grand a year that I'm getting. That along with OAS is more than I need.

Some valid reasons to take earlier, say at 65 or 67: spouse is 5 years older and you want the cash now to travel together, you don’t have a lot of RRSPs to burn through (maybe not a lot saved in general or more TFSA investments which are not taxed)
In my case taking at 67 vs 70 provides $ 70,000 income between 67-70 and the break even point is age 85/86. However you are really only significantly ahead by delaying to 70 at age 89 when you would be 10k ahead. .. not travelling to Portugal at that age. You would really need to have a lot of RRSP to burn through to delay to age 70…

Great informational video. I Just turned 60 years old. I did the if scenario, 61, 62, 63. Unfortunately, the calculator is not updated for each scenario.

For sure but when salaries go up less than the inflation (like they have mostly done last 10 years), you do not get this additional "growth before you take".

Like most videos like this one, it is basically stuff just designed to raise question to make you reach out to the Youtuber so they can sell (often worthless) advice services.

Delaying your CPP or OAS is not for everyone. I am 59 emigrated to Canada in my late 30s. If i start my CPP at 60 i will get 500 a month and cant wait for next year to start cashing in my extra 500 a month while still working. I will not touch it but it will go to my tfsa every month to invest in etfs. Worst case scenario in 5 years at 65 i will have at least 35K at the very minimum. At age 70 I will have at least 90K minimum in cash...cash is King. Also after 60 who knows what happens a bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush...my Kenyan saying. I hope to have at least 800K in my investments by age 70 and i will also be getting my employer pension

Why my statement of contributions shows only my contribution (employee ) , employers contribution is not on statement. For 2025 it shows only4430, it should show 8860. And it is same for previous years. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
