  When I was at Amtrak, I worked as an attendant with the California Zephyr being one of my regular routes. I was extra board qualified in coaches, sleeper, and dining car. It was a very cool job, but also extremely intense often times and requires being in very good physical condition and a lot of bravery too. I met so many amazing people from all over the world when I worked that job.

  According to Indeed, the average wage for an Amtrak sleeping car attendant is approximately $51,000 per year. &nbsp;Highly experienced attendants can earn up to $71,000 per year. &nbsp; <br> <br>Overheads, i.e. health insurance, pension provisions, etc. add another 40 percent to the base pay packages, i.e. bringing the average compensation package for a typical attendant to $71,400 or $99,400 for a highly experienced attendant. &nbsp;In addition, on board employees are paid overtime when the train is late, which is more often than not the case.

  Why did the union ever agree to the sleeping car attendant only getting 4 hours of sleep at night? That is not right.

  Wow!!! This is absolutely Amazing. These on board Crews are Warrior’s and dedicated! They endure a lot and sacrifices lots of sleep 🛌 to ensure passengers has an enjoyable and safe journey. They definitely had my respect!!!
