  With Richard sadly passing, David has said, that he will never perform this song again.  That is the bond they shared, and for such a classic piece of music art!

  David was the only band member who knew Richard had cancer. They kept it a secret from the band until later. David and Richard both knew this was the last time they would play this song together. It makes it even more special.

  The last few minutes of that performance is so deep. You can feel the love between these two friends. You can literally hear them saying "I love you, brother." to each other in every note. Brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to this version.

  David and Richard having a conversation using their instruments always brings a tear to my eye because they knew the end was near. &nbsp; It’s just beautiful

  The last 3 minutes are tearing my heart apart. Especially because both David and Rick were the only two who knew that this is their last performance together.

  OMG I&apos;ve been waiting for someone to react to this version. This is, in my opinion, the best version of Echoes ever recorded. The interplay between David and Rick is brilliant

  The last few minutes (for me) is the core of what made Gilmour &amp; Wright so great together. Just the two of them quietly &apos;playing off each other&apos; to create a beautiful ending. (Sadly, in this case it WAS literally the end of their performing it together.)

  Sadly Richard passed away in 2008, it was always fascinating how he and David Gilmour seemed to communicate with just a glance.

  The music was mainly written by Richard Wright and David Gilmour,....Richard had cancer, so David Gilmour wanted to do this song in honor of his best friend Rick......when Rick passed away shortly after that, is when Pink Floyd officially ended, as David said that he could not do this song ever again without Rick, playing the keyboards, no one can play the way he did, as it was originally Ricks song...at the end of the song they were both saying goodbye to each other....love them both!!!!!.....it was David&apos;s and Rick&apos;s soul song and a CLASSIC that will still be listened to for century&apos;s to come!!!!!
