  Welcome to the crown jewel of Floyd!!! 😃 After Meddle and Pompeii, now it&apos;s time for Echoes in Gdańsk! Soooo obsessed with this track and it somehow gets better with every listen lol<br>‎<br>‎Btw we went all the way back to the beginning and listened to The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, which will be posted next week.   I believe this was the last time they ever played it. Rick died not too long after and David said he&apos;ll never play it again without him. The way it ends here really feels like a goodbye between the two of them.

  The reason this Gdansk performance is important is because its the last time or tour that Rick Wright played Echoes live.

  The last time Echoes was ever played. I listened dozens of live versions over the years and this is the best one for sure. Only later I found out it was the last time… Fantastic

  The back and forth between David&apos;s guitar and Richard&apos;s keyboards is really a conversation and their vocal duet celebrates a life long partnership. David and Richard knew Richard didn&apos;t have much longer to live. This was their goodbye to one another.

  I’ve been waiting so long for you to react to this version. It’s my favourite song of all time, it’s the best live version of Echoes ever performed. Being the last time they would play this track together is emotional even now, despite listening to it hundreds of times. <br><br>Richard Wrights health was already suffering, I believe, but he wanted to do this tour with David, he was determined. <br><br>In 2008 Richard was due to appear on a music TV show in the UK called Jools Holland Live, sadly a couple of weeks before Richard called David and said &nbsp;‘ Sorry David I won’t make it! ‘ he died soon after. <br><br>David still did the show, whilst being interviewed and asked about Richard it was then, with sadness in his eyes, he said ‘ I’ll not play Echoes again without Richard ‘<br><br>True to his word, 18 years since Richard died, Echoes has never been performed again.
