  I bought a 230/3-speed '67 Malibu in 1970 with 50k on the odometer.  I intended it to be a short term car to get me by while I rebuilt my wrecked 273/4-speed Valiant.  Turns out I sold the Plymouth shortly after getting it fixed and kept the Chevy as my daily for another 15+ years. It served me well for through the military, college, marriage and two kids...never broke down, never anything beyond normal routine maintenance plus one new starter and a new clutch kit at 140k...what a car.  I sold it with 217k miles on the clock still running fine, save a slight miss at idle due to a vacuum leak from a worn throttle plate shaft bushing.

  I had a 64 Belair with a 230 with a 3 speed. It was a good running car. Bought it from a friend around 1970.😊

  GM was run by engineers at one time. They tried to improve the product year over year, addressing problems and making them better, faster, stronger. Then the cost accountants took over and ruined GM.

  I've owned only ONE chevy 230, in a '66 Chevy C-10.......with a 3 on-the-tree.  Owned 2 , 250's.  One in a '69 Chevy pickup, and a '68 Pontiac Firebird with the 250 OHC, single barrel carb.   That was one HECK of an engine.........

  I have a 65 Chevy pickup with the original 230 and 3 speed on the column.Still runs great.Still have that original  hand choke to first get it started.

  i&apos;m from Argentina, i have a 1967 Chevrolet 400 (nova) 3 speed with a stock 230, . Here, the 194/230/250 engines are beloved. In race cars, they&apos;ve gotten over 250 hp out of the 230. The 250 has more torque than the 230, but the 230 has a higher RPM range. Great engines. <br>Here the 230 was manufactured until approximately 1992 with the last Chevy C10s

  I say to you i use to run a 230 cu in chevy engine in a 1960 ford falcon 2 dr....We bored that meaty block to 4 inches bore...Put in &nbsp;then 327 &nbsp;chevy &nbsp;pistons. &nbsp;Milled that head 6 thousand &nbsp;to get higher compression... 11 to 1..compression pistons...a four barrel intake from J C Whitney....crazy timing. &nbsp;780 Holley carb &nbsp; de jetted a lot &nbsp;munsie 4 speed....55 Chevy rear end. &nbsp;Sent the head to Mondello &nbsp;to do their special thing &nbsp;Made our own headers...Called Crane cams and they ground a cam for us to for what we were doing. &nbsp;Melling oil pump to 60 lbs .... &nbsp;Best time at Cordova ill &nbsp; &nbsp;12.96. &nbsp;at 8200 rpm....Yes 8200 rpm and it stayed together &nbsp;Dennis belk.....Larry cullison
