in 1970, at 12 years old, the Chevy 230-6 in a '65 Chevy II wagon was the first auto engine I rebuilt. Coming from a family of mechanics, Dad told me to learn all the basics of engine work on this motor, from oil change, tune up, carb overhaul, accessory replacement, adjustments and finally total rebuild. Watching this has brought back all those memories and a few tears. I do miss the simplicity of old work horse engines like this, points ignition and all.

My parents had a 1966 Chevelle with a 193 ci 6. Had over 300,000 miles on it when the rest of the car rotted out, 6 banger still running strong. I learned to drive in that car, no power steering or power brakes. Dad took very good care of his cars.

I'm loving George's 6 cylinder. The only one I ever had was in a 74 Ventura while I was in nursing school. The entire time I owned that car, it never gave me a minute of trouble. Simplicity is a beautiful thing!
Next 6 cylinder should be a slant 6. That would be just as interesting and fun!

In 1967 my dad bought me my first car, a 1959 Chevy Parkwood station wagon with a 232 six cyl., powerglide. The cyl. head was in the back seat and the cylinders were full of rusty water. I was 14 and I learned everything I know about cars and the love of working on cars that summer rebuilding that engine and this series brought back every second of that time. Since that time I have had a 1962 Belair with a 235 I6, a 1967 Nova w/194 I6, a 1957 GMC pickup w/292 I6, all trouble free and reliable as a rock. Thanks for the memories and keep up the good work.

Back in 1974, I painted a '69 Camaro in Lucite acrylic lacquer. It had a 250ci six, three speed on the floor. I actually delivered the car to my customer, a pleasure to drive, what a GREAT handling car.. a very spirited, torquey six.

You have to appreciate the passion Nick has for exacting as much HP as possible even out of a Bowtie 230.
By the time the engine is installed it will be well broke in.
