  HK will sue if you portray their guns in videogames and refuse to sell to civilians but will sell to the Sinaloa Cartel in the blink of an eye

  It's fine to sell your weapons to both sides of wars and to cartels, but god forbid the bad guy  or army in a video game has that weapon, then it's all“ it makes the company look bad”.

  Depictions of real weapons wouldn’t be disappearing from gaming if manufacturers were intelligent enough to realize it’s free advertising.<br>How many kids saw Remington for the first time on the side of the MSR and ACR in modern warfare 3?<br>👑<br>🐲

  Similarly in Ace Combat games known for real world jets, devs has to jump through endless hoops to get a licensing deal with Lockheed Martin such as potrayal of planes, no named villian pilot can use the plane, etc.<br><br>Funny enough when its Sukhoi turn, they just say &quot;Yeah sure&quot;, don&apos;t think they even asked for the monetary compensation.

  My favorite example of how absurd American copyright law is that while the patent for the AR 15 expired Colt owns the copyright to the name so you can make an AR 15 rifle you can’t call it an AR 15

  Im not a gun nerd, so I don’t notice this stuff naturally, but I <i>am</i> a car nerd so I totally get what you mean when you compare them to the Frankenstein cars in GTA… I think most of those things are crude abominations.

  at the topic of firearms being replaced - there are shooter games on roblox (of all places) that have faced cease and desist orders from HK and Glock, so you can see why big companies avoid any similarities now

  I find it hilarious how developers pick and choose what to name realistically and what not.<br>For instance, in BF6, the ONLY aircraft with its real name and designation is the Su-57. It&apos;s modeled after the Su-57 and it has the in-game name &quot;Su-57.&quot; Everything else is fictional.<br>Also, in Call of Duty Black Ops 6, they reintroduced the MP-40 and called it a &quot;Dresden 9mm&quot;. This is hilarious because <i><b>literally no one</b></i><b></b> owns the rights to the MP-40 anymore. No one exists that can sue you for calling it that.
