  This is like if 2016 Doom was a looter shooter cause it's what's trending at that time, or if Baldur's Gate 3 was a Assassin's Creed-like RPG just because it's more marketable.

  Bungie is making the bold move of building an extraction shooter 5 years after the genre peaked using an IP that has been completely abandoned for almost 30 years. Reckon it might bankrupt them, and after hearing about how garbage Destiny is for years I think that might be a good thing

  I totally agree about the Marathon Story page. I actually reached out to Hamish about this, advocating for a separate page for the NuMarathon material to preserve the old page, and I was extraordinarily disappointed with his response. He basically said he plans to fully integrate the new stuff into the old and even retcon things as necessary. It was actually extremely painful to hear.

  what gets me is that bungie could have done marathon justice. there is nothing about todays games market that would make a single player doomlike sci-fi game unsellable. &nbsp;<br>What kills me is that you don&apos;t need Halo1, you could probably trick someone into thinking Halo infinity is a part of the lineage while marathon2025 isn&apos;t.<br>I&apos;m so sad.

  The glimpse of the S&apos;pht compiler was the only thing that looked like Marathon, but it&apos;s also a big problem for this being a sequel, since 99 years after Marathon, there shouldn&apos;t <b>be</b> any more compilers. The S&apos;pht&apos;kr were contacted ~80 years ago, the Pfhor homeworld fell ~20 years ago, so any S&apos;pht you encounter should be some form of free S&apos;pht, without the Pfhor control implants and uniforms. Maybe there&apos;s some rogue Pfhor running around causing trouble, but they&apos;d be crazy to have kept any S&apos;pht slaves. Tycho thought that was too much of a risk <b>before</b> the S&apos;pht&apos;kr were contacted.<br><br>And of course, the Marathon was stripped of its AIs and computer systems along with anything else the Pfhor wanted, so there&apos;s no reason to go there. Never mind the nonsense about it having been transformed into a spaceship somehow stuck in the middle of a hollow moon, one that appears to be about a hundred times too big.

  Can’t wait for Halo to get a reboot in 2030 as a soulslike. And Deus Ex as a battle royale. Left 4 Dead as a singleplayer turned based RPG. Quake as a Five Nights at Freddy’s clone
