Steve’s playing with Zappa, his first solo album, Alcatrazz, and DLR was so different from later on. I always love going back to that stuff because you can hear it’s him, but there’s just more fire in his playing/unique riffs, and it sounds so different from later on. He definitely had a huge change to his style between 88-90.

I remember the first time I heard Steve. I was 19 years old and my guitar teacher called me back and said, "Check out this guitarist." The album was Flexible and the song was The Attitude song. Then, the whole world shifted.
