I am going to tear you apart, molecule by molecule

No but in all honesty, this was an excellent video, and it just so happens to be my first of yours, so yeah, +1 sub to you!

I mean considering Xenoblade games barely break 2 million in sales and still manage to make profit, they're still mid budget. Only Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are big enough for developers to throw all their money at

I think the decline of mid budget games by classic game companys in general is a sad tale because developers tend to put out some of their best work under stricter conditions, a lot of the best games in big franchises back in the day were on handhelds or any form of lower powered system.

Some intriguing arguments here! I recently learned the ole “don’t judge a book” adage with the Trails of Cold Steel series - beyond it’s decidedly mid production belies heartfelt storytelling and the kind of escapism only aforementioned heartfelt JRPGs can really provide.

I'm honestly glad to see someone understands how great these types of games can be. People often write off games that aren't 100% perfect or super mainstream and that has always bothered me because it leads to these types of games never truly getting the recognition they deserve in my eyes, especially when they actually do excel in the things that define them in the first place.

So many triple A titles tend to play it way too safe and it can get boring seeing the same old formulas used in the industry. One thing I love about AA games is that they can have scopes somewhat similar to AAA but they still maintain the love of video games where you can really tell the developers are making the games because they genuinely enjoy it, even if their games are clearly not perfect. And to me, experiencing that love and care while playing through a game means so much more to me than anything else.

If there's one thing I love about the AA scene, it's how it's a pool of a variety of games in different genres that are mostly stylized in their designs. AAA has been very samey for me as of late, seeing as they all aim for hyperrealistic 4k 3d graphics (and are action games, mostly, with heavy emphasis on cinematic shots). Hell, the number of AAA games in my catalogue is probably less than my fingers...on one hand.

As a massive Kiseki fan you were pretty much spot on, Falcom games in general for their whole history besides debatably the really early 8 bit one's (Which were pretty damn impressive at the time) are mid budget titles with either a massive focus on the plot or fun gameplay or both.

I share the same sentiment for all of those games, to one that's sort of a middle ground between the mid-budget and big-budget games, that while has the stylised charm and artistic flourish and doesn't entirely set the world on fire with it's narrative, but still has things like badass setpieces in it's campaign, really impressive cutscenes, and robust diverse of characters to play as and a HUGE Endgame, with that being of course: Granblue Fantasy Relink.

It’s so funny when college students talk about how busy they are now that they’re in college. Buddy, enjoy it - you will literally never have more free time again lol

Love these types of JRPGs. Bravely, triangle strat, scarlet nexus, voice of cards, monochrome Mobius, unicorn overlord, romancing saga 2 remake
