  As a Christian, I honestly struggle to understand why we would choose to send our children to public school during such a formative and vulnerable stage of their lives. A child is still being shaped , his character, worldview, values, and understanding of right and wrong are all being formed.<br><br>Shouldn’t he primarily be surrounded by other children whose families are also seeking to raise them in the ways of the Lord, within a community of Christian families and the church?<br><br>I understand that every family has different circumstances, but I genuinely wonder why, as Christians, we would willingly entrust such a significant part of our children’s education and formation to a secular government system rather than taking the primary responsibility for their education ourselves.<br><br>I really appreciate Voddie Baucham’s sermon on this subject. He said : &nbsp;&quot;if we continue to send our children to Caesar for their education, we shouldn’t be surprised when they come home as Romans&quot;. That really captures the concern for me. We cannot consistently hand over the education and formation of our children to a system that rejects the foundations of our faith, including by teaching them the myth of evolution, and then act surprised when a foreign worldview begins shaping them.<br><br>And beyond that, why would we willingly put ourselves through the constant anxiety of wondering what our children are being taught, whether they are being influenced in ways that contradict our convictions, and whether we will have to correct or undo what they are learning? When you cannot fully trust the system entrusted with educating your own children, you are inevitably left having to constantly monitor, correct, explain, and sometimes even fight against what they are being taught. <br><br><br>We also cannot overlook the company our children choose for themselves. We are not talking about fully mature adults who choose for themselves here, but children who are still under their parents’ responsibility and guidance. Even if we carefully teach our children at home, shouldn’t we have a say in the influences they are exposed to at such a young and vulnerable age? What happens when they are surrounded every day by children whose values, beliefs, and upbringing are contrary to the faith we are trying to instill in them? Children are impressionable, and their friendships can have a profound influence on them. Scripture warns us clearly: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” <br><br>Well, that takes away a great deal of peace from parents. Why knowingly put ourselves through that when we have the responsibility and, in many cases, the ability to provide our children with an education that is consistent with our faith and values from the very beginning?
