As a dad, also treat your daughters how u want their future partners to treat them. Set a high standard so that they don’t settle for less.

This was one of the most informative lessons that I've heard about raising boys as a mother from a Christian standpoint. Thank you for taking the time to have this interview!

As an Asian women I so very believe this talk. Our males are the protectors and providers. It doesn’t mean that us women can’t protect or provide but we love to be on the passenger seat with the equal strength to be on the driver seat if needed. It’s so natural and beautiful to have Men the leader of the family. It’s working so well for generations.

As a mother of 5 boys I enjoyed watching the first half of the interview..I will continue the rest later. I love boys and their energy, eventhough I struggle to keep up and canalize their energy in the right direction. God is my Helper and their Provider. Over time He works in their lives. I love seeing them grow up and grow in their faith and character. They continue to surprise me. I teach them the way they should go, according to the Bible..they don't seem to listen, but then suddenly, when I don't expect it, they apply and refer back to the teaching. We do need to be patient. Boys are awesome!
Funny enough I am the one letting them take risks while their dad is much more cautious and scared they'll hurt themselves. But they are certainly more scared of him and LOVE wrestling him...during those moments I walk away because I'm the one scared they'll hurt themselves.😅

I disagree about not being able to succeed in a fatherless home. My siblings and I come from a single parent home and we thrived as children and now adults as a lawyer, medical doctor and sports scientist. She made us know that statistics and labels on our household wouldn’t define who we are and what we became. Particularly for our brother, she just made sure he was involved in team sports and in the church community where he could find male role models.

We raised four boys and three girls . In our culture ( Mennonite) there’s a stark contrast between male an female roles . And we raised our children in this culture. This is one of the first times I’ve heard it as truth and not bias. Our boys hunted , played sports and worked under their dad’s supervision running equipment and other men jobs .They wrestled ( Mom chased them out in the yard to do that ) they abused dad’s pickup behind his back until he noticed bald spots on the tires and threatened to make them buy new ones . We were blessed to send to our own private church schools and they had the privilege of showing off in front of the girls 😅. Our daughters had slumber parties, and birthday parties and played dress up . No one thought about it twice .

There is definitely a different presence with men. I love the thing about one man to walk the hallways and the violence stopped.

As a girl, I did the things you say to encourage boys to do. I climbed the highest trees, swaying back and forth. I play fought my friends who were boys. I played rough, I loved to explore and push my boundaries. I loved to played sports, often shining in the neighborhood games, played with both the kids and the fathers.
At the same time, I could play dolls, dress up, and play house with my girl friends, which I also very much enjoyed.
As a female, I feel bad that one would not let, or encourage girls to take risks, be curious, explore and push boundaries. This was such an enjoyable part of my childhood. I would feel bad to let girls not explore their selves in exciting, adventurous ways.
I do believe in masculinity being encouraged with boys. But please, don't clip girls wings. Let us fly to the highest heights, too, hopefully along the side of a very masculine, strong, protective husband.

This is so good!!! My husband and I talk about this issue a lot. I have an 18 year old son, senior in HS, and when he started HS I started to notice him pulling away from me and leaning more towards my husband more and more each year. It totally breaks my heart, and I’ve been struggling with the thought of loosing him. I’ve been reminding myself this message … that he is different from my daughter and our relationship is suppose to be different. You have given me hope that he will circle back around later on and Good stuff! Keep it up FOTF! And yes… do an episode about mother-son relationships!!! ❤
