  It seems compelling to imagine, that if one were a disembodied Nephilim, bound to seek to possess vessel after vessel, until the Judgement, it would likely seek to establish a dedicated family bloodline, so it wouldn't have to search, but only go from father to son or mother to daughter, building up and retaining it's riches and worldly power through each generation, and building grand institutions of temptation and deception...

  Baptism involves water.  You said demons avoid water.  The pigs of legion ran into the water.  A doom that made them suffer. Water is opposite of fire. So much symbolism and literal merged
