  100%  👍  I live in a big city and it's getting really hard to find a traditional service with hymns like I grew up on. I really miss that kind of church service!!

  After being exposed to the rock concert idolatry of Hillsong / Bethel / Elevation music for years, finding a traditional Gospel/Bible based church that uses hymns was a breath of fresh air!

  After several years of listening to Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation, Jesus Culture and Maverick City I found myself yearning for a more traditional service with hymns and I've found a church that does this and I'm planning to stick to it.

  My friend Mike is a contemporary worship leader in a large church.  His dying mother ask him to sing to her while she was on her death bed.  Mike sang to her all night until she took her last breath at sunrise.  He told me he learned that night that the old hymns have comfort and assurance that is not found in most modern worship music.  Even so, he is still contemporary.

  I don't mind the intent of contemporary music, but sometimes it seems like it is a repetitive chant like experience that  is built around making people feel good and displaying how loud or high the lead vocalist can sing.  Different styles speak to us in different ways, but sometimes even modern worship music starts to all sound the same.

  This video seems very performative with dramatic movements, focusing on the background studio. It's impressive but vain.
