This Remote Cabin Was Supposed to Be Abandoned...It Wasn't.

  To clarify any potential controversy or misunderstanding in this video: the cabin and surrounding land are all publicly owned. It's very likely a historical tie hack/logging cabin from the turn of the 20th century, many of which once existed in the area, but almost all of which are now collapsed with only a few walls or boards remaining. Two other intact cabins remain in the Uintas, and both are marked, maintained, immediately adjacent to maintained roads, and easily accessible by vehicle. This one appears to have flown under the radar due to its remote location, and is not a hiker cabin such as those available in other areas for overnight stays. Cabins on public land such as this are legally open to public visitation unless clearly indicated otherwise, such as by signage, fencing, locks, etc. The present use and occupation of this cabin are a mystery, and no trespassing was committed during any filming. No other people were observed or encountered in the area that day.

  Well I think your all missing who is using it. Most likely it belongs to one of the ranchers that run cattle in that country. 2 reasons I say that. 1. The hoof tracks in the mud were cattle not elk. 2 the bottle of repel x is spray for horses to keep flys and other flying insects off the horse.<br>Most of the people posting to you tube about abandoned cabins do not realize that even though the cabin may set on public lands that does not mean that the cabin or structure is public. There are a lot of cabins in the west that set on public lands and the structure is privately owned. More then likely that cabin has been used by a ranching family for 4 or 5 generations.<br>While most ranchers will leave them unlocked so if someone needs shelter they can get it. You did a good job of respecting the place and leaving it how you found it.

  Probably hunters that have been fixing up the old cabin for a camp. Really cool! Pretty sure I recognize the trail and the beginning. It&apos;s a pretty one!

  Whoever goes there respects the place. Looks like a display of old artifacts on the shelves. It would be fun to camp around an old cabin like that.

  Definitely a hunting camp. The equine spray is for pack mules and horses to keep the flys off the mules and horses. <br>I’m like 100% sure. <br>It makes sense there is no rode because they come on horseback. <br>They maintain the place and it may be a public use (unofficially) used by hunters

  Thank you for going out on a new adventure and taking us with you! You burnt some calories on that bicycle going all the way up. Daisy is such a wonderful dog sensing presence! I&apos;d love to own a cabin like that, would be spending all my weekends there.
