This is a very useful explanation of the leverage principle and progressive overs. From a sports science standpoint, it's crucial for viewers to understand that this progression is biomechanically distinct from a standard pushup. This technique is a direct pathway to the planche, as it intentionally shifts the limiting factor to the anterior deltoids and scapular stabilizers, placing high stress on the shoulder joint. But this isn't pushup training.

If a viewer’s goal is solely to build the pec major and triceps for a standard pushup/bench press, this method is less specific and carries a much higher risk of joint injury (especially wrist/shoulder) due to the extreme positions and high load near failure. For that goal, a more traditional strength progression (like weighted pushups or elevated feet) would be more efficient and safer. This is planche training, not general pushup training!

Every time you make a video explaining this, it is stronger than the last one. 💪

Hey Jack, just wanted to say thank you for making content. A few months ago I started listening solely to your advice and more or less ignoring everything else I see and I have made tremendous strides in my fitness. When I started working out again I could do barely one pull up and after doing one-arm assisted pull ups for a few months I am already up to being able to do 9 pull ups and have lost 30 pounds. I don't have a six-pack yet but I can feel it coming. This exercise (building up to a planch) is one thing that I felt super lost on. I do assisted one-arm pulls ups, single leg squats, assisted Nordics, progress toward front levers, and hand-stand push-ups, but this was something I didn't really get. I've been piecing things together kind of slowly. Thanks for all your advice and thanks for continuing to make good content.

I have never been able to work out consistently for even more than a month for the past 5 years until i follow your routine. I am definitely seeing my strength gains after each week despite so mininal training.

my grandpa told me like 20 years ago how russian boxers used to train their muscles - back support and then push an immovable object as hard as you can until your muscles give up 😀 so basically all they needed was a door.. the method you're suggesting is very similar to that

This was an excellent video, much more simple to understand your training methods compared to previous videos. Can you make the same video for the other 5 exercises in your training regime? It would be very helpful! I just subscribed!

This is one of your best that I have so far seen, Jack. Thank you. Excellent explanations not only of the theory but also of the specifics of this movement. Plus the accompanying demonstration was clear and accurately synced to your speech. Bravo.!

Wow, one set once a week! I'm all over this as it takes my body a long time to recover. I have never been able to stick to a 3 day a week upper body training program so this is exciting to learn about this. Thank you.
