I installed a very similar setup in a remote cabin only this week! It only requires 27W on solar, but I swapped the stock power supplies for an industrial DC-DC one. Works wonders.

The best solution may be releasing a bootloader unlock firmware at the product EOL. Hoping some vendor will start doing that in the future.
