Hey there 😊 we have a small, static flock with a large coop and run. We now allow them out during the day, and they put themselves away at night. We have a garden that is fallow, and they roam over it this time of year.

We've had various issues over time, but we noticed something very interesting. There is a cat colony that we feed. We put kibble out every day, and once per day we put out soft food diluted with water. The chickens started eating the kibble, and cleaning the remnants from the soft food pan.

Their health improved dramatically. We have 6 left now who are over 3 years old, and they all have shinier feathers, more energy and a more curious nature than ever. Two are even laying eggs again.

They still eat some of their grain and scratch, and we treat them once per day with dried worms and seeds.

In our case the kibble is Purina complete. Maybe they are getting something from it that is useful. Have you heard of this?
