This AC is Less Than a Year Old.. And it Already Has a Major Failure

  47 years in the industry here and retired from being a service/install technician. In that nearly 5 decades I've probably replaced 30 to 40 evaporator coils. This was on mostly for systems that were 10+ years old. From what I'm seeing and hearing from techs that are still actively in the trade, the newer evaporator and condenser coils are more prone to leaks within the warranty period. That ladies and gentlemen is a manufacturing failure on the assembly line and quality control issue. Justine, your troubleshooting skills is spot on and thorough. That's what makes you and your company highly rated because you actually take the time and effort required to get the job done on the first visit if fully prepared and parts are on your service vehicle. It's frustrating when a piece of NEW equipment fails on the customer and you're the vendor that installed it. Keep up the 5 star service and thank you for uploading all of these various HVAC videos.

  I’m going to let you guys in on one of my trade secrets, I’ve been in the industry for a lot of years and now retired. Carry a roll of plastic wrap on your truck. Wrap the connection or joint in question with plastic wrap and put the probe tip on the isolated connection. By wrapping it intensifies the leak by keeping out the air around the fitting out and causing a large amount of refrigerant to be detected each time. Now you’re sniffing the leak and not the air around it. Guaranteed to be a much better way to find a leak.

  Typically indoor coils come with a factory nitrogen charge. Assuming it had a factory nitrogen charge, but then leaked under operating load at the weakest joint. Good practice on new installs to spray the entire indoor coil for leaks while under a high nitrogen charge. Thanks for sharing!

  Fascinating and mesmerizing; I was holding my breath listening for a leak! Aren’t you afraid of spiders in the crawl space? You do not get paid enough to go back in there. I admire your skill, care and dedication when evaluating and fixing the problems you encounter. Your sensitivity to your customers dilemma and needs proves your strong value system and kind heart.

  So frustrating seeing this industry make such poorly designed/built coils with no quality control now. They must only spot check coils now in the factory Justin! 😥Isn&apos;t it odd how these failure with new installs happens to your best customers and usually it is the same problem their old system failed! Quality control more like Manufacture Regression!<br><br> Reliability rot: is what happens when a product’s long‑term dependability doesn’t just slip — it decays, like a coil quietly dissolving itself while the manufacturer insists everything is “within spec.” It’s the opposite of continuous improvement: instead of getting sturdier, smarter, or longer‑lasting, the product slowly becomes more fragile, failure‑prone, and allergic to real‑world use.<br><br>Glad you rescheduled and feel your pain and frustration brother!<br><br>Stay safe!

  Thanks for all the vids, interesting stuff for a homeowner and occasional HVAC repair person! &nbsp; Pretty frustrating, espicially with the location of the evaperator and such. &nbsp;I don&apos;t think I&apos;d ever buy a house with this kind of arrangement. I have a basement and easy access to most house mechanical things, which is what I wanted.

  Higher pressures thinner metal, equals more and more &nbsp;leaks in the future. Plus have been hearing many R454b start ups were overfilled with refrigerant because you have to wait like an hour and half of continuous running to get a good reading of what is actually going on. Of course, that is not realistic and people were overfilling because the pressures looked low after the normal 15 to 20 minutes. R32 is my 1st choice

  I would not use the big blu on the fan setting. The reason why is that it creates bubbles if you use it on the stream setting you can detect micro bubbles thought I would give my input great video sir!
