  Back in the 1980's I was in a band.  We always did this song...whenever we sang the chorus in four paper harmony, it  world just send chills up and down our spine

  Back in the early to mid 1970&apos;s, Don Henley and Glenn Frey used to hang out at Dan Tana&apos;s Italian Restaurant and Bar. They would sit in the bar and people watch while they waited for the famous Troubadour Club next door to open for the evening. While they sat in the bar, drinking, they would see people come in and make up stories of how they imagined their lives were. They would often see very young beautiful women come in on the arm of older, usually out of shape, men. It was obvious these women were so far out of the league of these men, but they were there because of the wealth and power these men had. Often, because this was Hollywood, the men would had influence in the movie, television, or music industry. They may have been married, but they probably weren&apos;t. He may have been married to someone else, and she was just his mistress. Frey and Henley thought that these women, while they were with the men, had every material need taken care of. They lived in the lap of luxury. But yet, there is one thing that they needed that was missing - love. So, they imagined that the young lady would lie to the man and &quot;go out to meet a friend&quot;, who was able to provide that love she needed. She knew she was lying to get away from the man. He knew she was lying as well. He knew that she was only there for the things he could provide, but she didn&apos;t love him. As Frey said to Henley in the bar, &quot;Look at her. She can&apos;t hide her lyin&apos; eyes.&quot; Just to clarify, this is not about one particular couple. This is about several couples that they would often see in the bar. <br>And that is how the song was written. It was released on the 1975 album &quot;One of These Nights&quot;.<br>Another interesting fact: when the song was released as a single, some important parts of the story had to be edited out so that the song could fit on a 45 rpm vinyl single. The full length version of the song is 6 minutes 22 seconds. A 45 rpm vinyl single can only hold 5 minutes of recorded material. The live version is the full length version.

  The Eagles had so much talent it isn&apos;t funny. That&apos;s Glenn Frey doing the lead singing and playing acoustic guitar, he died back during the Covid pandemic, the other lead guitarist is Joe Walsh, he went on to form The James Gang, and one of his most popular solo songs is called Rocky Mountain Way, it kicks ass! And he sings also. The drummer is an original member, his name is Don Henley, he went a did a solo career, one his most famous solo career songs is Boys of Summer, a beautiful song. And these guys all did solo careers, but always got back together to tour as the Eagles, I saw them do their final show, in Massachusetts, way back in 1992 or 1991 I believe.
