Randy Meisner actually had major stage fright and hated singing “Take It to the Limit” live because of that huge high note. It pushed the top of his range, and when he was tired on tour it was really tough for him. He sometimes refused to perform it, and it even caused tension in the band. So in these Hotel California-era performances, when you see the Eagles smiling at Randy as he sings – especially after he nails that final note – that’s totally real. They knew how anxious he was, and they were genuinely encouraging him onstage. It’s one of those rare moments where you get to see a rock band quietly rooting for their most nervous member.

43 yo metal head here. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever composed , it nearly brings me to tears every time I hear it. RIP Randy, you were one of a kind
