If there's not salt on the ground and it's above 30F, I will ride. Once you figure out good winter gear with proper layering it's very doable.

I store my bike in the living room. It's a show piece for 5-6 months a year.

I’m retired and I put my bike away for the winter then I hibernated. If we get a warm day I may go out but not often because the titanium rod and bolts in my leg and hip gets cold and there is nothing I can do about it.

PMS is a real and agonizing condition.

Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.

I'm in New England. The winter roads are snow, ice, salt, and more. I have no way to wash salt from the bike, so I have to wait when the roads are coated in it. But even so, I have managed in more than 20 years of riding, to get in one day every month. It might be short. It might be for the dumbest of reason. But it happens.

Because the mental anguish of seeing the machine sit during those long winter days is akin to torture.

To keep the down time as short as possible, I have the bike set up to power heated gear. I have heated pants, jacket, gloves, and socks. The grips heat up (nice even on cool summer nights), and I can even warm the seat. We had one glorious New Year's Day where the roads were clean and dry. It had rained just after Christmas, the salt was gone. The temps plummeted. A buddy and I decided a ride was needed. We rode down to Newport, RI. We went to watch the idiots do their polar plunge in near zero conditions. And yet, here were two bigger idiots who even with the heated gear took nearly 5 minutes of undressing to sit down in a pub for lunch.

But, those are the rides that create the stories. Those are the rides that you replay in your head when you open the garage to a wall of snow wondering if the snowblower will get out. Those are the stories that help keep the PMS at bay. And I seek out those magical moments every year.

When I lived up North I rode year round. If it is so cold your bike doesn't want to start, stick a hair dryer in front of the air cleaner for about ten minutes.

It definitely helps having a short commute to work. You can justify throwing a leg over daily in Winter so long as snow or sleet or freezing temps don't make things too hazardous. I'll never forget the first winter on my honda rebel.

I HATET The winter two years ago, so I just made two hobbies. I rode motorcycles on summer then I crochet on the winter.

Two sides I look forward once in a while. You forget but slightly miss, but the burning desire isn’t as bad.😊

Solution. I store my bike in November, then travel to the Philippines for the winter and ride my bike there until I get back to Canada in the spring. Hah...take that winter!
