Great job and explanation Forrest! I had tons of crunch going on when down shifting from low speed up to high speed on my 1x9 Xc bike and I eye-balled my derailier and for the most part it lined up almost perfectly but after I watched your vid on rear hanger shifting problems it pointed me in the direction of checking my removable derailier mounting bolt and with my chain off the bike I jostled the hanger and the mounting bolt was so loose it had over a mm of play in it I was amazed it was even hitting each gear let alone the gear crunch that first caught my ear. I tightened the removable derailier installation bolt and I also took a little bit of slack out of the derailier cable (mine is a shimano Deore) and you are exactly right the Shimano derailier seems to need tighter cable pull for really good on point index shifting as opposed to my Sram set up on my old bike. Great hands on explanation on your video Forrest it totally helped me remedy my crunchy shifting problem and pointed me also in the direction of not to overlook the removable derailier mounting bolt and make sure it's not loose. Thanks bro!
