  I know I'm late to this video but just HAD to say, pop-ups are the coolest thing ever. This thing must have looked absolutely space-age when it came out in the mid-1980s.

  We didn’t get these in Australia I only knew they existed because I had a matchbox car of one as a kid.. Very cool and unique little car for Volvo to bring out back then!

  Fixing that window regulator was impressive. I love a pro bodge, and having pulled regulators to bits myself I really appreciate how much patience is required to get the wire to run correctly afterwards. FYI sunroofs are never water tight, if it's letting water in the drains are either split or blocked.

  It's a 1.7 Renault derived engine. That manifold is standard. Had one in the same colour, from the same  year many years ago. Electrics were very flaky and the rear lights would let enough water in to keep Koi Carp in the wheel well in tfe winter. It had two tone leather and was a lovely looking thing. It drove really well too.

  I think this is Volvo&apos;s Ford Probe. I&apos;ve always thought both cars look really cool. The same with the Vauxhall/Opel Calibra, the Tigra, the Ford Puma, and the Ford Cougar. <br>80s and 90s coupés always look really, cool, stealthy, and space age to me.

  Be careful, these engines need a new cambelt every 6 years. It&apos;s a modified 1721cc Renault F3N engine with cilinder head reworked by Porsche Engineering, mated to a Renault JB/JC gearbox (watch for leaks at the gaiter, they are holding in gearbox oil!). Rust in the rear arches are your main concern, for repair you can weld in front wheel arches of a Vauxhall Chevette (Opel Kadett C) the other way around, i.e. front left goes rear right and front right goes rear left. Though rear arches might still be available through Volvo parts retailers such as Skandix. Windscreen is still available new, although I would check the edges of the windscreen first for rust.<br>Don&apos;t bang the dashboard too hard, it will break the old plastic. Instrument cluster repair is easy, solder the pins of the grey and green connectors again and maybe a few new bulbs. Unwilling pop up lights can be revived by bridging contacts 30/30a to 87 of the pop up relay (the tall one in the relay box) and let the popup motor run for 10 minutes.<br>The people of the Volvo 480 Club Europe (mostly a UK forum...) are very helpful! They have a Facebook group as well.<br>I can&apos;t leave contact details because Youtube will see that as spam but I can be found at the 480 forum along with several other helpful people.<br>Once again, the rear arches are your main concern. The rest is doable and for MOT maybe you will need to overhaul the rear brakes, they are notorious for getting stuck. Good luck!

  My uncle had one of these in the 80’s, what a car! He was a great man, and modernised many of the RNLI training practices at the time. I would love to win this car, many happy memories cruising around with that funny, kind and caring man.
