  Noel’s is a ballad because it tells a story but it says it’s a lament because that’s what he wanted his life to be<br>Jane’s is a lament but it says it’s a ballad because that’s what she wanted, a story

  I truly ADORE the line about fearing her soul rotting with her head. Usually the soul is an entirely ethereal concept. It can be changed, displaced, corrupted even. But never something so material and mortal as rotting away. &quot;Jane Doe&quot; is not an identity, it&apos;s a placeholder name for a lack of identity. By giving her the mantle of Jane Doe, the world has stripped away the person she was, letting her die unknown. She goes from begging St. Peter to tell her who she is, because surely the divine would know what man cannot, to mourning the soul she can&apos;t name. &quot;Time eats all his children in the end.&quot; She just happened to be awake for the first bite.

  I love that lament and ballad are flipped because Jane has no story to tell, wishing she COULD sing a ballad while Noel&apos;s life was so uneventful that he wishes he COULD lament! I love this show

  Gotta put the comment: Yes, noels lament is a ballad and ballad of jane doe are switching type of songs because noel wants a lament and jane wants a ballad.

  “Time eats all his children in the end” isn’t the only reference to the Titanomachy. Jane Doe’s catchphrase “ When a lioness has children, she stops making love to the lion. The lion gets jealous, sometimes so jealous he eats the children. You&apos;d think this would upset the lioness. Far from it, they make love again like the children never existed. I find that idea terrifying.” Rhea (Cronos’ wife) is associated heavily with lions. Rhea, like the lioness, keeps having children with her mate, even after he kills (eats) them. There are also 6 members of the choir, one of which get to live (not be eaten AKA the person who lives represents Zeus, to a degree).<br><br>I’m not sure what all these comparisons might mean, but it is smth I’ve noticed

Since Jane is singing with a lot of vibrato, she can hide the being flung around with reinforcing her voice, and using the vibrato, which is why she mostly spins during hard hitting letters like, &apos;Does no one care?&apos;. It&apos;s also I think, that her harness encompasses her entire diaphragm so she&apos;s not getting jostled around as much as people may think

  It’s probably pretty obvious from a tech standpoint but the birthday cape is used to hide whatever harness the actress was wearing in order to achieve those incredible stunts. She heads offstage after the song and removes it while the audience is focused on Noel and Misha, then quickly returns; it’s quite a seamless transition!

  Fun fact: nobody told emily rohm she would be flying she didn’t know until she saw the crane and she had to spend I think it was like 8 hours in the crane during a rehearsal once
