30 years later and this still bangs, what a tune, it was EVERYWHERE in the summer of 96.

George was the ultimate artist. He was truly a chameleon . He could deliver some sugary Pop, some smooth R&B/Soul, Jazz, Funk and even a beautiful Standard. And not to mention some soul boy, rap. A few of his very early Wham! numbers, according to the late great Dick Clark described it as a Detroit sound. He was very unlike his contemporaries in that he could write and sing a number one song in almost any genre. This song is off the multi platinum album called, Older. To this day, it still holds the record for six singles released going into the top three. 2 at number #1, 3 at #2 and 1 at #3. George was a songwriting genius ❤.

His heart has been broken by a past lover who he still misses and he doesn't want to risk it being broken again, which is why he is only looking for fastlove. It's a sad song when you look at the message behind the lyrics. George Michael is one of the few musical artists I feel truly saddened by their passing. I view his passing in the same way as I feel about the loss of Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Otis Redding and Roy Orbison among others. The world is a darker place without them.

The sample is Patrice Rushen's Forget Me Nots from 1982. Prince wrote I Wanna Be Your Lover about Patrice Rushen as well.
