  I de-converted over 30 years ago and when people ask me why I tell them it's because I studied the Bible. It took me almost 20 years and two degrees in biblical studies to figure out what you did by just reading the Bible and thinking at the same time - well done Big Coop.

  Great to see so many Brothers and Sisters finally quit religion. Religion is a tool for money, power and control. Good luck on this new journey.

  Yes every deconverted Christian has always end up thinking for themselves and not for the people around them.

  I remember having a discussion of a God problem and a people problem. A God problem is attributing every excuse to God for instance living,  breathing  and excusing bad behaviour etc. A people problem creating rules, divisions for a particular agenda while uplifting   one group while dehumanizing another group..

  I'm glad you read the bible, so many "christians" never read it entirely. There are so many terrible acts by god in it, clearly written.

  I was raised by evangelical parents and I was Christian until my 40s. I looked for answers to life in the bible so I read it cover to cover. I found it to be both boring and horrifying. So I read and researched for several years, and all the legs holding up religion started to crumble until it pancaked and I realized that religion was a hoax. It was shocking, but life is so much better since I lost my religion. Thanks for sharing these examples. I had the same questions.

  I walked away from it all too. Reading the Bible did the same after giving it another shot to appease my wife. It only solidified my decision.
