  I am a Los Angeles resident. Many Christians gleefully celebrated as fire ravaged our towns in January. Some even quoted bible verses - that’s including my own relative. Thank you for calling out those “Christians”.

  See the worst part about religion being an abusive relationship thats idolized by the church is that it prevented me from seeing the very real abuse in my life. It also meant it was easy for everyone I talked to about it to dismiss me (made it /SO/ easy to leave and heal).

  I an disabled because of an arsonist. I can&apos;t tell you how angry it made me to hear that it was &quot;God&apos;s will&quot;. &nbsp;Have you ever visited a burn unit? No loving god would want that.<br>Not to be creepy, &nbsp;but I love you so much. I&apos;m 55. I left the church at 17 and never looked back. You have brought so much healing to me from the scars I received. As a thinking, &nbsp;independent woman. As a disabled person. &nbsp;As a friend and ally to LBGT+ people who has seen the utter devastation religion brings to them. Thank you!

  This is exactly the same kind of thinking that pulled me out of my faith. I had just gotten out of an abusive relationship and I stopped to think, &quot;Why was he able to use my faith to manipulate me?&quot; While learning about exactly what had happened, I realized that he did to me exactly what Christianity had primed me to accept. It was the same behavior from both him and from God, and it was little wonder why I so easily gave in when my ex was the one trying to manipulate me. It&apos;s sick and disgusting that religion primes people to ignore red flags and blame themselves when something goes wrong, instead of being able to think critically and realize the harm actively being inflicted upon them. Be safe out there, don&apos;t let people tell you what to think or how to feel whether they&apos;re potential love interests or religious people trying to draw you into their cult.
