  I had a big wake-up call when I stopped for a second and realized that most people belong to the religion in which they were raised. &nbsp;I realized there&apos;s got to be a problem here if geography determines your salvation so substantially.

  I’m a Christian, but I do have an issue with organized modern American Christianity. I’m ashamed of how politics reeked its ugly head into the foundation of the American Christian Church. I can attend church and I’ve found some great people in Church…Its that I don’t look at me as a part of that church. I look at it as a building with people in it who are flawed just like anyone else. The most impactful moments I’ve had with God have been outside of Church. I think it’s mainly for fellowship and connections. I would rather have one true brother in Christ than a whole entire church with what I would considered deeply flawed ideas of how Christianity should be.

  I am a current follower of Christ and I know that when I began to question these things as well I was not actively going to church nor did I have a pastor or church group. I experienced the same thing as Rhett, I would ask someone who was supposedly more wise in their faith and they would say things such as &quot;because that&apos;s just how it is&quot;. I loved science because it gave me answers to a curiousity I innately hold, but I also knew that God was supposed to be good, so I was conflicted. &nbsp;As I grew in my relationship with Christ and because I couldnt get a sufficient answer from others, I started asking God. I had heard he was a father so why not just ask your father the question? And I now am stronger in my faith because of the questions I asked and pondered and researched not only in my science and history books, but also lining it up with the bibles timeline. One thing that I still ponder is the age differences between the earth in Christianity and in science. But one possibility I have come up with is this: in the bible we see that Simon Peter talks about God&apos;s timeline being different. 2 Peter 3:8 But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. <br><br>So maybe in the bible the 6000 year old earth could equate to the billions of years that we see in science. Another possibility is that God created it with an age. If we think of Adam we know that the Bible says that Adam was created, but he wasn&apos;t made an infant. He was created to be a certain age. Theologians ponder that he was possibly an apparent age of 20 years old(although this is just an idea).. is it not also possible that God created the earth at a certain age? <br><br>I always love to debate these things, sometimes with myself while doing research. Sometimes answers just come to me. I fact check what pops into my mind and then also check biblically. <br><br>I couldn&apos;t get the answer out of other Christians so I sought to find the answers myself because &quot;that&apos;s just how it is&quot; was not enough for my curious young mind. I do not consider myself a Christian, because names give too much power and come with stereotypes. I am a follower of Jesus. And this is part of my story. 🤍

  My parents first steps in leaving their religion was when they started having questions and got kicked out of their Bible study for having questions... We bounced between churches and then started just doing our own church at home and after a year or two they left religion

  Yeah, churches dont like when you ask questions. &nbsp;I grew up Christian and also grew up loving geography. &nbsp;So in trying to reconcile practical geography with location descriptions in the bible, when i had a question i thought surely my sunday school yeacher would be the best place to start. &nbsp;NOPE. &nbsp;That was the beginning of the long end to my Christian path.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GuGcPb2jjQ&amp;t=320">5:20</a> &nbsp;1 Corinthians 7:12-16 actually instructs for married couples to stay together if one does not believe. Scripture encourages and instructs single believers to marry other believers, but never uses it as an reason for divorce. Christians never say to throw away a marriage for that reason. <br><br>Thanks for sharing your story &amp; experience
