@14:00 The original instructions for the zerostat when it was sold as part of the disc washer system are the most comprehensive.

They explain that when the trigger is pulled positive ions are released, an when the trigger is released negative ions are released.
Dust is nearly always positively charged, and records negatively charged...
They recommend that POINTING THE GUN AWAY from the vinyl during the final release of the trigger!

On the use of the Zerostat gun, I have used one since the mid 1980's. On the instructions from the original Zerostat "red gun" it said to slowly squeeze and release the trigger in 3 to 4 different spot and the point it a the center and slowly pull the trigger, then slowly pull the gun away from the record and then release the trigger. May not do much difference but it worth a try. Thank you for a great video.

Terry, thanks for the hard work put into these vinyl care videos, I think they're the most thorough I've seen.

As a kid in the 70s I loved the static of a new record, pulling it out tightly. We thought it was a sign of quality 😂
We also used paint brushes to clean them….yeah

Terry, very useful and informative. I’ve had my Zerostat and Diskwasher for decades. I wondered whether there were better products at the same price point for sometime now. Your video pretty much covered off all the alternatives I was considering. Thank you.

As I was seeing the video I was questioning some things and then you came with all my possible questions to my thoughts. Congratulations. You’ve nailed it spot on! 👏

That was really informative. A word of caution, however, about the ultrasonic stylus cleaner, which I have to say, I really like the look of. Some cartridge manufacturers, Ortofon being one example, specifically state that you shouldn't use liquid based cleaning methods. I believe this is because, over time, it can degrade the adhesive which bonds the stylus to the cantilever to the point where the it will actually detach from the cantilever, this is especially true of cartridges with boron cantilevers, apparently. If this does occur, then it would invalidate the cartridges warranty. So, before purchasing it would be a good idea to check the instructions just to see that its ok to use liquid cleaners.

That is why when CD's came out (1982) I said this is it! nothing could or would get any better than this.

I think I'm going to return my turntable. It's a lot easier popping a CD in or playing streaming music. There is so much going on owning a turntable; cleaning, static, storage, etc etc. 😂

Hudson makes something very similar to the Flux - and costs 27 USD. I looked at my stylus under microscope before/after using the Hudson - and the difference is amazing. I didn't like paying so much more for the Dstat 3 than I did for the Zerostat - but it is worth it to me because it is SO much easier to use. Great video.

Great follow up video to your last review of cleaning methods. I purchased the Audioquest brush and have been impressed by it's performance, certainly plenty of bang for the buck. I've ordered the Sonic cleaner based on your latest findings. Kudos to you for your efforts including the macro video, it looks like a lot of work. Y
