You are spot on about what the Pigs represent. Greedy, corrupt people in power who manipulate and use people to enrich themselves, and who don't care who they hurt to keep themselves in power. Dogs are successful businessmen who think they are also the elites in power, but they don't realize they are being used and manipulated as much as the lowly Sheep are. This album is a real masterpiece. Also, I share your feelings about David Gilmour. He makes the guitar sing and cry, and every note he plays hits me right in my soul. I have never grown tired of listening to him play.

I’m so glad you are reacting to this album. You’d think these songs were written about the current state of society, so it’s kind of mind-blowing this album is almost 50 years old.

The live version of this in Mexico 2016 was epic!

Arousing human emotions used to be what the music was about. A rare thing these days.

Sounds like you got to read Animal Farm and then 1984

The novel Animal Farm and Pink Floyd's 'Animals' are so relevant for the politics of today in the US of A. Time to go back and read it (again).

The pig always managed to make an appearance at every Pink Floyd concert since the 'Animals' album came out. Saw them in Chicago 1988. Imagine an angry-looking pig the size of your apartment with spotlights for eyes floating just above the heads of the audience. Jaw dropping!!

You are correct, the pigs are politicians. But also, in the last verse, people like Mary Whitehouse, a conservative British woman who wanted to censor music.

The only concert tour from PF I ever got to see! This is still one of my very favorite tracks. When I play it, I play it LOUD!
