  Check dams need to be wider, then add hieght after they backfill <br><br>With that much water flowing, you definitely need deep perpendicular &nbsp;and parallel swales with deep ponds. &nbsp;Spread and slow that water for soak in and later use.<br><br>One swale and pond would capture more water than all of your other water collection combined.<br><br>You could then pump water during storms to other retaining ponds, totes or containers.<br><br>1 rock high, 4 Rick wide. &nbsp;Many of your current rock dams are intermittent and only 1 or two rocks wide. &nbsp;So not slowing or diverting most of the potential available. <br><br>I am very excited for you and the potential you have on your land.<br><br>Really appreciate the updates in the rain!

  The wash. &nbsp;I watched a guy take full grown trees he had cut and just put them in the wash, parallel to the flow. &nbsp;I expected them to get washed away, but they stayed in place, and wow what a slowing, spreading, and cleansing the water received. &nbsp;Ugh, he a good sized excavator to move the big trees. &nbsp;Great job with the rocks &quot;Beaver.&quot;

  1) Stack the rocks. &nbsp;2) Slow the water. &nbsp;3) Harvest the sediment. 4) Heal the incision. 5) Raise flood stage until it spills over the banks and into a riparian zone. 6) Spread the water. &nbsp;7) Soak the water.<br>* This is my expanded version of 1) Slow the water. 2) Spread the water. 3) soak the water.<br>* Keep on stacking those rocks. &nbsp;I hope you can round up some tools like a come-along or winch and big iron bars to use as levers on the big boys.<br>* It&apos;s working. &nbsp;Just keep stacking rocks and start consistently tracking how long the water flows at X point after the storm ends. 👍🌳

  so when is the check dam party? &nbsp;thanks to creators like you for the first time in 10 yrs I have kept 100% of the rain fall on my acre land. &nbsp;My focus was always storage with swales and pits. by stopping the flow and letting the sediment settle while the flow becomes clear and now soak over a greater area. &nbsp;My driveway is not going to get washed out anymore. &nbsp;Things that helped is using rocks to secure the swales as a pile of dirt will wash away. &nbsp;Center swales around vegetation it soaks up faster. &nbsp;more storms are coming in would love to see a timelapse of your stream.
