  The idea of a Conservative being specifically into the goth scene of LA is really funny to me. That feels like moving to Saudi Arabia to advocate for Democracy and atheism.

  I respect those veterans&apos; protests so much. They lived the futility of war and actually want to stop it instead of romanticizing it. It takes guts to be vulnerable enough to say &quot;what happened to us and what we did, none of that was okay.&quot;

  Aesthetics used to be used to signify belief in something and allegiance to a group, but that made it a lot harder for capitalists to sell us those aesthetics as fashion. So capitalists worked very hard to divorce the aesthetic from the belief as much as possible do they could make some money and that&apos;s led us to where we are today

  I was goth/punk in the SF Bay Area starting in 1986, and in the late 80&apos;s/early 90&apos;s the goth community didn&apos;t lift a finger to kick WAR (white aryan resistance) skins out of the alternative/goth clubs when they would show up. During that time these WAR skins were actively invading &apos;alternative&apos; clubs on the US West Coast and trying to take them over. It was the punks and sharps who got things done and drove them out. So, back then goth was largely not political at all in terms of being proactive and getting rid of racists. They were mainly apathetic cowards and just didn&apos;t give a shite. There were a few of us who were political, but it was mainly because we also listened to punk and went to punk clubs. I think the music has always been political, BUT a whole lot of people in the scene back then were not at all and it was pathetic.

  I think the thing that I find so revealing about this is that even if we were to hypothetically accept the premise that progressives have taken over mainstream culture, it would show that the thing he finds interesting about Goth Culture is that it is counter-cultural. It’s always so interesting that these people think that these largely Queer subcultures were created solely to rebel for fun, when in reality their mere existence was rebellion. Under white supremacy, these subcultures had to exist for survival so people could find community and liberation. But the part that he finds attractive is simply the act of rebelling, not that purpose of rebellion. It’s such a vapid way to look at counter culture

  Troy and the Odyssey are not White epics. White Americans did not write or inspire this literature. Greeks did. And I&apos;m sure no Greek would ever claim Trump loving MAGAs. Most Europeans wouldn&apos;t actually. That&apos;s the hilarious part.
