  There&apos;s no goth men, because it&apos;s about fetishizing women. If they paired a goth girl with a goth guy then it wouldn&apos;t be a fetish anymore, it&apos;d be two people who share a subculture, have things in common and, who knows, maybe even respect each other.

  I would almost call it an anti-goth movement at this stage because there is absolutely nothing &apos;alternative&apos; about conforming to traditional gender stereotypes and pandering to a mainstream audience of predominantly straight men who would call a priest if they encountered an actual goth.

  I always thought it was weird how, in pop culture media, &quot;goth girls&quot; were usually depicted as being intimidating and unapproachable, but the &quot;modern&quot; 2026 &quot;goth girl&quot; advertises themselves as being EXTREMELY available, and how that feels sort of pandering to a fantasy of, I dunno, having easy access to &quot;inaccessible&quot; women? Particularly for insecure men who fear rejection?

  its so weird that people seem to think saying things like &quot;step on me&quot; and &quot;mommy&quot; to random strangers somehow doesn&apos;t equate to sexual harassment. its like they&apos;ve rationalized that sexual comments about strangers are ok as long as they sound submissive.

  When we say &quot;you couldn&apos;t handle a goth girl&quot; it was never because goth girls are super freaky.<br><br>It&apos;s because the dudes we say it too wouldn&apos;t be able to reconcile the fact that goth women have thoughts... believe in things that run counter to them.<br><br>You hit the nail on the head.<br><br>They don&apos;t want goth women, they want specifically girls they can attach a set of artificial traits to and impose their fantasies upon.

  It&apos;s all just &quot;Belle Delphine but with black lipstick&quot; cosplay actually.. <br><br>I&apos;m a 32 year old alternative-ish woman, I can admit I&apos;m mainly into the artistic expression of alternative fashion and body-mods rather than the music, I listen to some metal but most of the time I listen to other genres, for this reason I don&apos;t really call myself &quot;goth&quot; or &quot;punk&quot; because that is a specific subculture I&apos;m not deeply embedded in. I have tattoos, a septum piercing, wear a lot of black but I&apos;m not a goth, I&apos;m casually alternative and that&apos;s fine.. <br>But I&apos;m also not trying to commodify a whole subculture for the sake of views or money, and I certainly don&apos;t like being sexualized as a result of this ongoing online &apos;goth girl&apos; trend. I&apos;m a grown ass woman with tattoos, that doesn&apos;t mean I&apos;ll lick milk off the floor for the approval of misogynist geeks, yet even I&apos;ve felt some repercussions of this commodification of goth/alternative aesthetics (especially in gaming spaces).<br><br>The sexualization of women in alternative fashion/music has been a problem for as long as it exists, but this online trend feels particularly insulting.

  as a deathrocker, this shits been getting on my nerves because deathrock fashion can be a lot &quot;skimpier&quot; than other modes of goth fashion &amp; the ungodly amount of times ive been called a goth mommy in the last several years has actually made me tone it down &amp; dress in longer dresses/skirts rather than cut off shorts. forcing myself to show less skin because im sick of the objectification - i was fine when people looked at me with disgust &amp; like a freak, but i am not fine with boring men in khakis harassing me to be their goth mommy. 😭
