  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6a3PmY244M&amp;t=540">9:00</a> fun fact I learned when I wanted to be an architect: there is a good reason most buildings are all square, it’s because when you have all those weird rounded corners it makes designing rooms REALLY hard, because they end up with all these wonky curved areas which don’t accommodate pretty much any pre existing furniture

  Elon&apos;s town is almost exactly the same as what mining companies did in the early 1900s. They would build towns with houses, supermarkets etc. for their employees to live in. These mining companies would then pay their employees with fake currency that could ONLY be used in that town and couldn&apos;t be converted to any other currency, so employees couldn&apos;t quit or leave the town.

  corporations trying to build their own cities for their employees shows a distinct lack of knowledge of their own country&apos;s history. people tried that already. it didnt work out. there were deaths.

  Ironic you mention how cruise ship workers have to live where they work, because cruises are notorious for taking advantage of their employees. They hire international workers and overwork them because they know those employees can&apos;t just leave. It&apos;s a textbook abusive work environment that perfectly demonstrates the risks of having your living situation controlled/dependent upon your employer. <br><br>It was the same problem with mining towns back in the day as well. Miners were completely dependent upon and taken advantage by the coal companies they worked for whose towns they lived in.<br><br>To anyone contemplating living in a place owned or controlled by your employer in the future - don&apos;t do it! There&apos;s a reason we need to keep those things separate.
