  This is so interesting. And yet, where is home? I grew up in a white town where we were among a handful of Black families. From elementary school on, I heard kids saying they were Irish or part French and part Portuguese, etc. Some had it down to percentages. It made me think,  I don't belong anywhere. I grew up with that and it hurt. Then came the term "African American". It's better than "Negro" or black as an insult  and definitely the N-word. But in a way, it also made it worse. Africa's such a huge continent with a vast number of people groups that the blanket term felt kinda like being thrown a bone. But it took on new meaning for me while I was working in Kenya. During a conversation with some teammates, I described myself as African American. One of the local staff sneered at me for using the term, questioning my right to use the term "African". I told her about my experiences as a kid of people who had minute knowledge of their ancestry, while for us, it was a blank. Nevertheless, we know this: before the brutality of some of the worst barbarians in history, our ancestors lived and thrived on that beloved Continent. Somewhere. It's the best we've got for now.

  Watching this video is physically painful for me. It is devastating to see how Europeans encountered thriving, peaceful African civilizations, chose to dismantle them through theft, violence, and exploitation, and dared to use their whiteness to hide the fact that they were thieves, pillagers, and rapist.

  They ( the slavers and colonists ) didn&apos;t target Africans. <br>Africa is a whole continent. <br>They targeted the Hebrews.<br> Rome, back then, was persecuting the Hebrews, and the Hebrews (specifically the southern tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi )fled to Africa, where they could blend in, as they always did when they were persecuted.
