  The only way that a person should be viewed as ugly is by their actions, not their looks. Unfortunately, society does not see it that way 😕

  This is why body neutrality is probably the best. I struggled with facial dysmorphia for years. I eventually came across this story about a young woman who lost her face after surviving a suicide attempt. She lost her nose, mouth, and most of her lower face. Seeing all the pain she went through, how she couldn't eat normally, barely talk, be independent, or even go into public, it completely changed how I view my face. Even if I'm not beautiful, I can sing, taste my favorite foods, smile, etc. I am grateful to have a healthy, functioning body, and now that's enough for me.

  Your daughters watch YOU. Be careful how you talk about yourself. Be careful how you look at yourself in the mirror. I confronted my ADORABLE 14 year old daughter and asked why she hated looking in the mirror, and she scream cried “I got it from you!” <br>Really opened my eyes: no matter how much I told her she was gorgeous, she got her habits for self condemnation from ME. <br>We’ve completely switched that up in our house and are smiling effortlessly now.

  I&apos;ve heard about a theory that being able to look at ourselves via mirrors and pictures and recordings is difficult for us to process (well), because we were never meant to know what we look like in that detail. Throughout most of human history we only ever saw images of ourselves in surfaces like water - vague, distorted, no clear picture and no way to zoom in. BUT we are naturally wired to recognize faces and find them interesting. So the rather modern ability to review our appearance so closely might be harmful, but naturally hard to break.

  The thing about physical beauty is that, no, not everyone has it at first glance. However! I think we all have had the experience of meeting someone whose looks are nothing special and yet when we become friends with them, when we come to like them and know them, we perceive their looks differently. <br><br>My mother would never be in a fashion magazine, but she is beautiful because she’s my mom. Her face is home to me. <br><br>When you love someone, you love to see them. Their presence, their physical appearance, is pleasant and pleasurable to you because you love them and being near them.<br><br>If you can love someone who doesn’t have model good looks, you are also capable of being loved without them.

  My heart was breaking for that adorable little girl at the beginning of the video. She’s so young to be burdened with those thoughts. Self doubt and negative thoughts are a constant battle with me.
