He's pretty much a heavy metal version of Keanu Reeves.

I’m not a major heavy metal or grunge fan, but I think he absolutely rocks both as a drummer and as a human being.

Nobody ever says anything bad about him, professional or fan, and every artist he works with does some of their best work with him.  Nirvana, Queens, Crooked Vultures, Tenacious D.   What’s not to like?

Dave Grohl is just finishing life’s side quests at this point…

I think Dave is a happy person overall and that shows in his music. After being in an angsty rock band for years, he finally has an outlet for that life affirming side to show.

Dave is an absolute living legend. As a musician but also as a person. I had the privilege of meeting him once. I worked as a cameraman for MTV, doing backstage interviews with some of the acts on a certain festival. We were there only for an hour or two, just to complete the 2 interviews we were supposed to shoot. At a certain point I was waiting for the artist to arrive and the interview to commence, staring in the distance, listening to the music on the main stage (I still remember, it was Dutch band "De Staat"), when suddenly Dave Grohl just sits down next to me asking me if I was having a good time, enjoying the festival. I was SHOCKED. Star struck. Litteraly on of the biggest artists in the world and he's asking ME if I'm having a good time? I'll never forget that moment. He is such a cool guy.

I'm not a foo fighters fan but i think Dave is a great musician and he deserves all the respect he gets from his fellow peers for what he has achieved

Kind of glosses over a cool story by just saying "Dave eventually formed the Foo Fighters". Dave created and recorded the entire debut album, solo. Wrote it all, played all the instruments himself, and put out a tape. One thing led to another, it got picked up, and when it was time to tour he finally assembled a band.

Dave Grohl's music helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. Pat is right; he loves life and people and is shows. I'm a really big fan of AIC and Mark Lanegan; they speak for me and soothe my soul, but Foo Fighters...they will have me smiling every time. Grohl is an American treasure who has reminded me how important music is to life, and I thank him for that.
